Mockingjay; A Beacon For Us All

I went to see Mockingjay when it first came out a month ago. Unfortunately, I simply did not have the time to write about it when it first came out so I've forgotten many of the little details.
What I do remember is there really wasn't anything I had to say negatively.
It's interesting to me that they were able to turn my least favorite portion of my least favorite installment of the Hunger Games trilogy and turn it into my favorite movie thus far! But of course the movies already started great and just kept getting better and better!
The script was well written, the depth was incredible as they gave us all a peek at the rest of the districts as well as the Capitol even when Katniss couldn't possibly know. It made it less about Katniss and more about the big picture. These are little books with big messages about change, tyranny, and standing up for what is right.
Also the way they handled Katniss' mental breakdown and Finnick's were fantastic and heartbreaking. I wish they had included the rope for Finnick, but they beyond made up for it when they had the propo war with Snow.
I don't want to give too much away about what was shown, what wasn't shown, what they skipped over because pretty much anything they skipped over was probably for the best.
I went into the theater already curious about how they'd do The Hanging Tree since the song was leaked a few days before the premiere. The way they did it was exquisitely executed and I can't wait to buy the movie just to watch it again!
This film adaption receives a 5/5 stars because I simply have nothing bad to say.
I agree with its' PG-13 rating.
Also, side-note. If anyone is hating on Hunger Games, pay attention to the effect the franchise and the message is sending to the rest of the world. Several countries pulled the film from the theater's because they were afraid it'd start a revolt. Guess what, maybe that's what needs to happen. If they (the governments) are so concerned about a revolution, it probably means that it's time for one, and it's incredible that Hunger Games is making such an impact in real life just by sending the message that you need to stand up for what's right. That goes to show just how powerful and influential Hunger Games, and literature YA or otherwise is on humans. And this is why I love literature!

What I Do...

I'm just starting this blog to put my two-cents in on general media. Books, movies, shows, plays, videogames: things people OBSESS over! I will do serious posts about prestigious and world renowned literature, like Shakespeare; and silly wtf posts about modern obsessions such as Secret Life of the American Teenager and Disney movies or Fifty Shades of Grey. I would like to receive suggestions for things to review from classics like 1984, musicals like Wicked, or videogames. I will start with posting once a week--if I can contain my tangents for that long-we'll see.
